An Auxiliary vessel informs boater of race in progress The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was established by Congress in 1939 to assist the Coast Guard in promoting boating safety.  It includes some 30,000 members - from all walks of life - who receive special training so that they may be a functional part of Coast Guard Forces.  Auxiliarists assist the Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as public education, vessel safety checks, safety patrols, search and rescue, maritime security and environmental protection and Coast Guard Academy Introduction programs for youth.

Auxiliarists volunteer more than 2 million hours annually to benefit other boaters and their families.  These hours spent saving lives, assisting boaters in distress, conducting courtesy vessel examinations, and teaching students in boating and water safety courses (see the National Public Affairs web page) save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars every year.  If you are interested, check out the rest of our web pages and the links to the National, District, and Division Auxiliary web pages, and consider joining Flotilla 20-14.

The buttons on the left give information about our flotilla, while the ones on the right link to other Auxiliary areas.  Pictures are expandable - click on them, then use your browser's Back button to return to the website.
